David Archuleta: American Idol

David Archuleta Bio

Archuleta is from Murray, Utah (and is a student at Murray High School — he’s the youngest American Idol contestant!).  Archuleta started singing when he was six because he was inspired by the musical Les Misérables.  He started performing as an entertainer at ten years old in the Utah Talent Competition where he won the kid division by singing “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton.

In 2003, at the age of 12, Archuleta sang on several episodes of the television show Star Search, in which he won the Grand Prize on Star Search 2.  (Ironically, in one episode, he sang against Alexandréa Lushington, who is also a “top 20″ semi-finalist on American Idol alongside Archuleta.  David Archuleta also appeared on The Jenny Jones Show and CBS’ The Early Show.

David Archuleta cites Hispanic-influenced influences in his performance style from his mother, who is from Honduras, as well as jazz from his father, who was a jazz musician.  David loves musicals, but also loves pop — strong musical influences include Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin and Bryan Adams, as well as pop artists Natasha Bedingfield, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams and Kirk Franklin.

Archuleta is currently balancing school and the American Idol competition.  Personally, we thing DAVID WILL WIN AMERICAN IDOL.  Vote for him with us, and get ready for his first album after the season ends!!

Another notable point of success — his performance of “Imagine” was already #1 on iTunes!!
