David Archuleta: American Idol

David played piano on this one — you really can’t beat that.  His voice is so good.  The judges agreed, they were all over him with praise.  Check it out, dawg:

David tore this one up, the judges love it, even calling it the best performance of the night.  I’m not a big Dolly Parton fan, but even I thought it was pretty good. Check it out:

Archuleta sang “You’re the Voice” this time around — pretty solid.  The judges weren’t quite sure what he was singing, but seemed to love him anyway…except Simon, who said it sounded like a carnival performance or something.  He’s a tough one, that Simon.  Check out the David “You’re the Voice” video clip:

This time, on American Idol, David sand “The Long and Winding Road”.  This time, he totally made up for his last performance — he didn’t for get the words! — and he completely rocked it, nailed it, you name it, he did it.  Check out “The Long and Winding Road” video clip on YouTube:

David Archuleta had a little trouble with this song at a couple points…he even admitted that he might have trouble with it before he sang it.  Fortunately, he cleaned it up at the end and still did quite well — hey, doing Stevie Wonder is TOUGH.  “We Can Work It Out” doesn’t sound a whole lot like the Beatles version, but whatever, David’s still doing well.  The judges weren’t too keen on it — they railed him…Paula said, “We still love you”. But Simon ground him. Check out the video:

HOLY COW.  David plays piano in this video.  Like Archuleta isn’t talented enough, now he’s playing his own instruments.   This kid’s unbeatiable, and it’s no wonder he’ll be the American Idol this year.  Go David!  Check him out in this American Idol clip on YouTube:

WOW.  This is the performance where Simon said David Archuleta was the “one to beat”.  When Simon says that, you know the performer will be a rock star.  This is definitely the tune to check out and remember — watch David sing “Imagine” on American Idol:

Here’s Achuleta singing Shop Around during the 1960s-themed episode of American Idol.  He’s basically once again, kicking ass and taking names.   Man, what a strong voice, he’s got the soul and charisma for sure…  It’s easy to forget that he’s only 16-17…and he’s smoking the other contestants.  Check out a video clip of him singing “Shop Around” on American Idol:
